We’ve come to the end of term at Leeds and what a great couple of months it’s been for Marrow! We’ve held 11 clinics and have already signed up over 1000 people to the bone marrow register. On top of this our 5 fundraisers have raised a massive £4500 for Anthony Nolan. Our efforts have made it into the press, and you can read the articles here and here. We’ve also got lots of photos from all of our clinics, fundraisers and socials on our Facebook page.
After the huge success of the Nottingham AGM we’re thrilled to see so many groups across the UK signing up lots of people to the register. Make sure to follow UK Marrow on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news. As it stands, over the last 3 months, over 6000 people have signed up to the register, tens of thousands of pounds has been raised and 36 people have donated stem cells...AMAZING!
Finally we’d just like to say a big THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and committee members for all of the hard work they’ve put in over the last few months, Merry Christmas Marrowers!
We held our annual charity poker tournament a couple of weeks ago which raised over £500, and were also lucky enough to be LUU Dancesport’s chosen charity for their hugely successful Strictly Come Dancesport event which you can read about here. We were also nominated in the Anthony Nolan Supporter Awards for Best Recruiter. In other news, Gaurav Bains, a 2-year-old boy whose family started a patient appeal with Anthony Nolan when he desperately needed a bone marrow transplant, has recently found a match, and is due to have his stem cell transplant on the 19th of December. We were lucky enough to be involved with Gaurav’s appeal, and got the chance to meet with his friends and family at a recruitment event. We wish Gaurav and his family the best of luck in the future!
